Philanthropic Resources
Licking County Foundation’s funds are limited in relation to the great number of worthwhile projects and organizations throughout our community. Below you'll find information about other local funders and resources that may be able to meet needs that fall outside our scope or capacity.
The John and Mary Alford Foundation
The John and Mary Alford Foundation was created and founded in 1996 by Ronald B. Alford and Barbara Alford Cantlin, the children of the late John and Mary Alford, to carry on the charitable and philanthropic giving activities of John and Mary Alford, with an emphasis on improving and enhancing the quality of life primarily in the Licking County Community through the support of educational, social, religious, and cultural programs.

The Foundation, created in 1999, prefers to support organizations that operate within Licking County.

The Cecil L. Mauger Charitable Trust
The Cecil L. Mauger Charitable Trust was established under the will of Cecil L. Mauger, a Newark businessman, to provide funds for charitable organizations. The Cecil L. Mauger Charitable Trust accepts proposals from tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations serving Licking County throughout the year as part of a competitive grant making process. As a small, local foundation, The Cecil L. Mauger Charitable Trust has limited resources and cannot respond favorably to all worthwhile causes.
Increasing the capacity of nonprofits to respond effectively to community needs is essential. In general, The Cecil L. Mauger Charitable Trust prefers funding:
- Small-scale, specific capital needs
- Programmatic needs
- Projects that serve people
