In celebration of 60 years of giving back to the community, the Licking County Foundation is awarding Event Grants of up to $1,000 to support community events happening throughout Licking County hosted by local nonprofit organizations. The Foundation has approved several local events that are centered on enriching the lives of Licking County residents. These are the recently approved LC Event Grants:
St. Vincent de Paul - We Honor Those that Serve
o When: June 10, 2016
o Where: The Elks Club
o We Honor those that Serve was a fundraiser to raise operational funds for St. Vincent de Paul. This event featured a dinner, awards program, and a silent and live auction. St. Vincent’s provides housing and supportive services for those who are homeless in Licking County.
The Works 20th Anniversary Celebration
o When: June 18, 2016
o Where: The Works Museum
o This event was a celebration of The Works providing 20 years of history, art, and STEM programs and exhibits to the Licking County Community. The Works celebrated their anniversary for the entire month of June. The biggest event during the celebration was on June 18, with a free admission day and the unveiling of the new Jerrie Mock Flight Lab exhibit.
Licking County Humane Society 50th Anniversary
o When: June 25, 2016
o Where: Licking County Humane Society Bark Park
o This event was a celebration of the Licking County Humane Society’s 50 years of service. This event helped raise funds for operational costs of the shelter. This fun celebration honored the special bond between animals and the people in Licking County who love them.
Heath Community Arts Council - Heath’s Taste of Summer
o When: June 25, 2016
o Where: David Shai House
o Heath’s Taste of Summer was a fundraising event open to the community. The event featured a car and truck show, a play area for kids, a 50/50 raffle and live music. There was also craft beer and several local food trucks on site.
Newark Development Partners-Slice of Licking County
o When: July 15, 2016
o Where: Downtown parking garage and Canal Market District
o "Slice of Licking County" is a new fundraising event taking place this year as an effort to introduce local residents to the improvements happening in downtown Newark and to promote future development. This event is a collaboration between local/county government, the Licking County Chamber and Newark Development Partners. At the event, there will be pizza and local beer and wine. The money raised at this event will be used for marketing and operation costs for the Chamber and the Newark CIC.
Licking County Health Department - 9th Annual Pink Strides Trail Run and Wellness Walk
o When: September 17, 2016
o Where: Infirmary Mound Park
o "Pink Strides" is not only a trail run and wellness walk, but also an educational event to engage local women in a discussion about breast health services. Both the 1-mile and 5k courses will follow maintained natural trails throughout the park. The 1-mile wellness walk will be led by breast cancer survivors. Proceeds from this event will provide breast cancer prevention services to qualifying women throughout Licking County through the Screening and Survivor Support for Breast Cancer program. Proceeds will also provide wellness programming for residents of Licking County through the Licking County Wellness Coalition.
