In 2018, the Southwest Licking Schools Educational Foundation established an agency fund to provide ongoing support to the school district for the purpose of promoting, encouraging and supporting excellence and innovation through the development and improvement of curricular and co-curricular enhancements. “We believe education is the backbone of society. By making grants available to our schools, we believe they will foster the creativeness of our teachers which will in turn benefit the children of the district,” said the Board of Directors.
Southwest Licking Schools Educational Foundation is a way for the community to engage in local education. The foundation was created by a group of citizens who wanted to do more for the community. These volunteers are passionate about continued progress in the Southwest Licking School District and improving the entire community. Public schools often face a lack of funding that creates educational barriers. “There are so many things that our schools need that the district simply doesn’t have the funding to provide,” said the Board. In order to address these funding needs, SWLSEF established a fund at LCF to provide additional support. “The board of the Southwest Licking Schools Educational Foundation chose LCF for their commitment to our county and the communities in which we live. We appreciate their philanthropic leadership that helps the quality of life in the community,” said the Board.
SWLSEF hopes to promote educational innovation in the Southwest Licking School District by providing resources such as the STEM Carts that they recently gifted to the district. When asked about their goals, the Board said: “We hope that this fund will demonstrate in a concrete way that there are people who deeply care about the future of our young people and are willing to invest in their future beyond a minimal civic duty to support the public schools.”
